Prod hotels to hire with PPP funds, lawmakers urge SBA
Thirteen members of Congress have joined with labor leaders in accusing the hotel industry of falling short of the intended purpose of Paycheck Protection Program loans as job subsidies through the pandemic. “Congress intended the PPP be used as a lifeline for small businesses to retain employees,” Rep. Nanette Diaz Barragan, D-San Pedro, said in a letter to the US Small Business Administration, noting that “it is important that this funding is used to protect the jobs of hotel workers as it was intended.”
