Bookings for summer holidays to Portugal have gone “through the roof” after the country was confirmed on the quarantine-free travel “green list” by the UK government, Sky News reports. When the green list was announced last Friday, Thomas Cook said it took more bookings in one hour that evening than in the whole of April.

From 17 May travel restrictions from England will be eased and destinations such as the Algarve, Lisbon and Porto are now in demand. Here we pick out some of the best hotels and experiences on offer in Portugal.
