Air Canada rouge returns after seven months

The low-cost carrier subsidiary of Air Canada has already relaunched flights from its Toronto Pearson base to Las Vegas McCarran, Orlando Int’l, and Regina with Tampa Int’l to follow on September 17 and to Cancún two days later.

“Air Canada rouge remains integral to Air Canada’s overall strategy. As we emerge from the pandemic, we anticipate increased demand for vacation travel and from customers flying to enjoy overdue visits with family and friends,” President Jon Turner said.

Going forward, Air Canada rouge will operate 39 narrowbody Airbus aircraft, comprising twenty A319-100s, five A320-200s, and fourteen A321-200s. It plans to refurbish the interiors of the aircraft with the first nine units due to enter service with new cabins this autumn. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the airline also operated twenty-five B767-300(ER)s. However, it announced a shift to an all-narrowbody fleet in the early days of the pandemic with all Boeings due to be retired.
