Local Hawaii officials work on hotel sales tax bumps

The Kauai County Council’s recent enactment of a 3% hotel tax surcharge is in the process of being emulated in some form by Hawaii’s other three counties. The Honolulu, Maui and Hawaii governments are developing ways to make up for the state’s decision to stop allocating revenue locally from the 10.25% state tax.
