A4A: Competition keeps air travel affordable, accessible

The price of flying in 2020 was 60% lower than it was in 1980, Airlines for America reports, and 87% of the US population reported they had flown on a commercial aircraft, representing the highest percentage ever. Airlines are using larger planes and operating more nonstop flights, according to A4A, and there is greater competition on routes of all sizes.
