Nepal’s Yeti Airlines granted int’l charter rights
Yeti Airlines (YT, Kathmandu) has received an updated and expanded Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), which permits the carrier to operate international charter flights.
Spokesperson Sudarhan Bartaula said that Yeti is planning to operate to India, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and other countries. Once it launches charter flights – which it intends to do “in the near future” – it will then add scheduled international services to its permit terms. The carrier received an international operating licence already in September 2020.
The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows the airline operates five ATR72-500s with plans to add a further four units of the type. It operates scheduled non-STOL flights out of Kathmandu. Sister carrier Tara Air operates two DHC-6-300s and two DHC-6-400s under Yeti Airlines’ code to connect remote destinations with Kathmandu, Nepalgunj, and Pokhara.
Yeti Airlines is also a sister of Himalaya Airlines (H9, Kathmandu), an international scheduled and charter carrier that operates one A319-100 and three A320-200s.
