Honolulu hotel tax proposal passes 2nd of 3 tests

A bill to impose a 3% tax on Oahu hotels is scheduled for a final vote Dec. 1 after preliminary approval Wednesday by the Honolulu City Council. Debate continues over how to use the revenue, which would replace state lodging tax funds that were disbursed to counties until the state legislature ended the practice this year.
