2021 Travvy Awards Recognizes the Best Cruise Companies
The winners of the 2021 Travvy Awards are here! After a long year of test cruises, restarting plans and reduced cruising capacities, these cruise lines have gone above and beyond to prove their worth as the world’s best cruise lines. One new category this year recognizes the cruise lines that provided travel advisors with the best support during the pandemic.

Best Cruise Line – Under 500 Cabins
Regent Seven Seas Cruises wins gold as this year’s best cruise line that offers cruises with under 500 cabins each. Seabourn and Silversea Cruises won a silver medal while Windstar and Ponant both earned bronze medals.

Best Cruise Line – Under 1,000 Cabins
Holland America Line takes home the gold medal as the best cruise line offering cruises under 1,000 cabins. Viking River Cruises earned silver. Oceania Cruises received a bronze medal.

Best Cruise Line – Agent Support During Covid-19
Royal Caribbean International earned a gold medal for being the best cruise line for agent support throughout the pandemic. Norwegian Cruise Line and Celebrity Cruises both received a silver medal. Viking Ocean Cruises won bronze.

Best Cruise Line – Europe
Celebrity Cruises took gold as the best cruise line in Europe. Viking Ocean Cruises earned silver. Princess Cruises earned a bronze medal.

Best Cruise Line – Asia
Royal Caribbean International wins gold as this year’s best cruise line to offer Asian itineraries. Silversea Cruises and Princess Cruises both won silver. Crystal Cruises earned bronze.

Best Cruise Line – Central & South America
Princess Cruises won the gold medal as this year’s best cruise line in Central & South America. MSC Cruises received a silver medal. Holland America Line earned a bronze medal this year.

Best Cruise Line – Caribbean
Royal Caribbean International wins gold again as this year’s best Caribbean cruise line. Norwegian Cruise Line and Celebrity Cruises both earned silver. Carnival Cruise Line earned bronze.

Best Cruise Line – US Waterways
American Queen Voyages won the gold medal for the best cruise line sailing the U.S. waterways. American Cruise Lines earned silver. Viking River Cruises won bronze.

Best Cruise Line – Alaska
Princess Cruises wins the gold medal as this year’s best cruise line for Alaskan itineraries. Holland America line won silver. NCL received a bronze medal.

Best Cruise Line – Hawaii
NCL received the gold medal as the best cruise line offering Hawaiian cruises. Princess Cruises won silver and Carnival Cruise Line secured bronze.

Best Cruise Line – Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific
Celebrity Cruises earned the gold medal as this year’s best cruise line to Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. Royal Caribbean International took silver this year. Princess Cruises and Paul Gauguin Cruises earned bronze medals.

Best Cruise Line – Contemporary
Royal Caribbean International earns another gold medal for being this year’s best contemporary cruise line. Carnival Cruise Line won silver. NCL received a bronze medal.

Best Cruise Line – Premium
Celebrity Cruises takes the gold medal for being this year’s best premium cruise line. Princess Cruises received a silver medal and Holland America Line earned bronze.

Best Cruise Line – Luxury
Seabourn won gold as the year’s best luxury cruise line. Regent Seven Seas Cruises took home silver while Viking Ocean Cruises, Oceania Cruises and Crystal Cruises each earned bronze.

Best Cruise Line – Expedition/Adventure
Celebrity Cruises won the gold medal for being this year’s best expedition/adventure cruise line. Seabourn came away with silver and Hurtigruten and Ponant both received a bronze medal.

Best Cruise Line – Family
The gold medal for this year’s best family cruise line goes to Carnival Cruise Line. Both Royal Caribbean International and Disney Cruise Line received silver medals. The bronze medal goes to NCL.

Best Cruise Line Website
Celebrity Cruises takes home the gold medal for having the year’s best and most user-friendly website. NCL and Royal Caribbean received a silver medal for their websites and MSC Cruises earned bronze.

Best River Cruise Line – Africa/Egypt
AmaWaterways took home the gold as Africa and Egypt’s best river cruise line. Viking River Cruises earned a silver medal. Uniworld won bronze.

Best River Cruise Line – Europe
AmaWaterways earned the gold medal as Europe’s best river cruise line of the year. Viking River Cruises earned a silver medal. Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours won a bronze medal.

Best River Cruise Line – US Waterways
American Queen Voyages earned the gold medal as this year’s best river cruise line sailing the U.S. waterways. American Cruise Lines won the silver medal. American Queen Voyages also won gold for best US river cruise line under 500 cabins.

Best River Cruise Line – Overall
AmaWaterways earned the gold medal as this year’s best river cruise line. Viking River Cruises earned a silver medal. Uniworld received the bronze medal.

Best Cruise Ship – Small (Under 500 Cabins)
The Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Seven Seas Splendor ship took the gold this year as the best small cruise ship. Windstar Breeze took silver. Ponant’s Le Ponant received a bronze medal.

Best Cruise Ship – Mid-Size (500 – 1,000 Cabins)
The Holland America Line’s Noordam ship earned gold as the year’s best mid-sized cruise ship. The Viking Orion and Crystal Symphony ships both earned silver. Paul Gauguin’s The Gauguin ship received a bronze medal.

Best Cruise Ship – Large (Over 1,000 Cabins)
Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas earned this year’s gold medal as the world’s best large cruise ship. The Celebrity Edge and Carnival Vista both won silver and NCL’s Norwegian Encore received the bronze.

Best Cruise Ship – Expedition/Adventure
Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Flora ship earned gold as this year’s best expedition/adventure cruise ship. Ponant Le Boreal received a silver medal. Silversea’s Silver Explorer and Hurtigruten’s MS Roald Amundsen earned bronze medals.

Best Cruise Ship – River Cruise
AmaWaterways’ AmaMagna ship received the gold medal for being the best river cruise ship this year. The Viking Longship Vidar won a silver medal along with Uniworld’s River Princess. American Cruise Lines’ American Song won bronze.

Best Cruise Ship – Contemporary
Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas is named this year’s best contemporary cruise ship, earning a gold medal. The Carnival Horizon ship received the silver medal. MSC Cruises’ Seaview and the Norwegian Encore by NCL both earned a bronze medal.

Best Cruise Ship – Premium
The Celebrity Edge took gold as the best premium category cruise ship of the year. Holland America Line’s Nieuw Statendam emerged with silver. The Azamara Quest and Regal Princess received bronze medals.

Best Cruise Ship – Luxury
Regent’s Seven Seas Explorer won gold as the best luxury cruise ship of the year. The Seabourn Encore won silver while the Viking Orion and Crystal Symphony ships both earned bronze.

Best Cruise Ship – Overall
Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas takes gold as this year’s best overall cruise ship. Viking Star and Celebrity Edge both earned silver. Crystal Cruises’ Crystal Symphony won bronze.

Best Cruise Entertainment
Royal Caribbean International takes gold, offering this year’s best cruise entertainment. Norwegian Cruise Line received silver. Celebrity Cruises earned bronze.
