Caribbean Airlines takes first 737 MAX 8

Caribbean Airlines (BW, Port of Spain) took delivery of its first B737-8 on November 17, 2021, and plans to induct it into revenue service in January 2022.

Delivered directly from Everett to Port of Spain, 9Y-CAL (msn 43385) is the first of four B737 MAX 8s the Trinidadian carrier will take on lease from Air Lease Corporation . It also has one aircraft of the type on order from AerCap, the ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows. The airline has commitments for a total of twelve MAX 8s from various undisclosed lessors.

Caribbean Airlines currently operates seven ATR72-600s and eight B737-800s (one of them being stored since March 2020). It has been gradually downsizing its B737NG fleet and retired four -800s during the course of 2021, the ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows.
