British Airways to debut BA Euroflyer ops from 2Q22

British Airways (BA, London Heathrow) has started selling seats for BA Euroflyer (BA, London Gatwick), its new London Gatwick-based short-haul subsidiary, which is to launch later in the second quarter of 2022.

Tickets to 35 short-haul destinations went on sale on December 14, 2021.

The new services from Gatwick will initially be operated by British Airways until the new entities’ Air Operators Certificate (AOC) is issued. By Autumn 2022, the carrier will be managed separately under the trading name “BA Euroflyer”, consistent with its sister subsidiary BA CityFlyer (CJ, London City). However, the brand name will remain British Airways.

Initial flights will be operated with three A320 Family jets, ramping ramp up to 18 by the end of May 2022.

BA Euroflyer will herald British Airways’ return to short-haul flying from the London airport, which was suspended as a result of COVID-19 in Spring 2020. During the pandemic, several routes were moved to London Heathrow, some of which will return to Gatwick, as well as being maintained at Heathrow to give customers choice, the airline said. These include Faro (Portugal), Ibiza, Malaga, and Tenerife Sur (Spain), and Marrakech (Morocco).

New routes to be added at Gatwick include Athens Int’l and Santorini (Greece), Berlin Brandenburg Int’l (Germany), Madrid Barajas (Spain), and Milan Malpensa (Italy).

Routes to be launched from Gatwick are as follows:

March 29: Amsterdam Schiphol (Netherlands), Larnaca and Paphos (Cyprus), Seville and Tenerife (Spain), Verona (Italy);
March 30: Lanzarote (Spain), Faro (Portugal), and Malta Int’l;
March 31: Catania (Italy), Malaga (Spain), Marrakech (Morocco), and Nice (France);
April 1: Alicante (Spain);
April 2: Las Palmas (Spain);
April 3: Bari (Italy);
April 4: Dubrovnik (Croatia) and Turin (Italy);
April 5: Ibiza (Spain);
April 7: Palma de Mallorca (Spain);
April 8: Berlin (Germany) and Venice Treviso (Italy);
April 11: Menorca (Spain);
April 14: Madrid (Spain) and Thessaloniki (Greece);
April 15: Bordeaux (France), Milan Malpensa (Italy), and Santorini (Greece);
April 17: Cagliari (Italy);
April 23: Dalaman (Turkey);
April 24: Heraklion and Kos Hippocrates (Greece);
