Australia’s Airnorth debuts two E190s
Airnorth (Australia) (TL, Alice Springs) has announced the introduction of its first two E190s – VH-UYC (msn 19000016) and VH-UYR (msn 19000100), both on lease from Alliance Airlines (QQ, Brisbane Int’l), the ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows.
Airnorth, in a statement, said the Embraer regional jets have been deployed on routes to Gove, Cairns, Kununurra, and Perth Int’l, with other destinations across its network to be added.
“The new aircraft type has remarkable benefits that optimise operational efficiency when compared to other regional carrier’s fleet mix that underpins lower fuel burn, shorter travel time, longer range, and an overall better performance,” the company said.
The new additions will also streamline the carrier’s groundhandling as they cater for more passengers and service doors, simultaneous passenger deplaning, and cabin servicing.
The aircraft aren’t new though: VH-UYC is 16.5 years old, while VH-UYR was built 14.3 years ago. Both were previously operated by Copa Airlines (CM, Panamá City Tocumen Int’l) under the registrations HP-1556CMP and HP-1564CMP, respectively.
Airnorth’s fleet also comprises six EMB-120ERs and four ERJ 170-100LRs, according to ch-aviation fleets advanced data.
