Nicholas Calio, president and CEO of Airlines for America, told the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee that it “will likely take years” to “fully and permanently mitigate the interference issues caused by deployment of 5G in the C-Band.” Lawmakers joined Calio in criticizing the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Aviation Administration for the fraught 5G rollout that nearly caused massive delays for passengers and disruptions to the supply chain. “The U.S. aviation industry should not be in this position and the process that led to this operational nightmare should be held up as a cautionary tale of government communication and coordination gone awry,” Calio said.
