Spirit Airlines will add non-stop flights to Boston from Atlantic City International Airport starting May 26, the airline announced Tuesday.

Non-stop flights to Boston will initially start three days per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays through Labor Day weekend.

The move comes about three months after Spirit expanded non-stop services to Cancun, Miami and San Juan.

“We continue to add more popular destinations from Atlantic City, and Summer is a great time to add non-stop service to Boston,” John Kirby, vice president of network planning at Spirit Airlines said in a statement. “In addition, New England area travelers will be able to enjoy the quick hop to explore the Jersey Shore and all the options that Atlantic City has to offer.”

Tim Kroll, airport director at Atlantic City International, called Boston, “one of our top unserved destinations for locals.”

Spirit said it currently offers the following non-stop services out of the same airport: Atlanta, Georgia (seasonal), Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as well as Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, Tampa and West Palm Beach in Florida.

The airline also offers service from Newark Liberty, LaGuardia in New York and Philadelphia airports. Last fall, Spirit said it was scheduled to add 21 new Airbus A320neo planes to its fleet in 2022.
