Taiwan’s Starlux Airlines adds first A330-900 widebody
Starlux Airlines is on track to begin A330-900 operations in early summer after it took possession of its first of the type – B-58301 (msn 2003) – at Toulouse Blagnac on February 18. The jet was subsequently flown to Taipei Taoyuan the same day.
The Taiwanese carrier is leasing a total of eight A330-900s from Air Lease Corporation with three more due this year. They will feature 297 seats, including 28 in business class and 269 in economy, and after having been certified by the Taiwanese authorities will make their debut in May this year on flights to Macau Int’l, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore Changi, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, and Tokyo Narita among other Asia-Pacific destinations.
Until now, Starlux’s fleet had only consisted of seven A321-200NX narrowbody jets. Its first A350s – of which it is expecting nine A350-900s and eight A350-1000s – are due to start arriving during the second half of the year.
