Hotel union known for NYC influence grows N.J. footprint

The Hotel and Gaming Trades Council, a major player in New York City politics, stamped the enlargement of its New Jersey presence by opening an office in Montclair this week as its members ratified contracts at 10 hotels in the state. The union represents about 40,000 hospitality and gaming workers in the two states and is noted for backing the current New York City mayor and his immediate predecessor.
