A local foundation vows to continue its restoration work at the site of an historic Jim Crow-era hotel near Charleston, S.C., despite a recent fire that inflicted heavy damage. The Pine Tree Hotel on Mosquito Beach was established to accommodate Black travelers banned from all-white beaches.
