On the 14th of April, Athens International Airport organized an inauguration event, welcoming Jet2’s first flights ever, to Athens from Birmingham and Manchester.

Philos the Athenian, Athens International Airport mascot, welcomed passengers and crew at the gate area where local delights were offered. The ribbon was bonded, signaling the beginning of an endless partnership and link between the airport and the airline, as well as between the connected destinations. The traditional cake was impressive and passengers, crew, as well the airport and airline delegations enjoyed the welcoming event!!

To underline the importance and very successful entrance of Jet2 to the Athens market, a few days later (22nd of April), the airline announced the expansion of its offering to Athens in the Winter 2022/2023 season, demonstrating the airline’s continued commitment to the capital of Greece. Jet2 stated: “The addition of Athens as a brand-new destination for Winter 22/23 comes in response to strong demand for flights and city breaks to the capital from UK holidaymakers and will see the leading leisure airline and package holiday specialist operate four weekly flights from the UK”.
