Cruises let you pay one price for lodging and transportation, and many let you visit up to six destinations in a single trip. Of course, you also get to access all the awesome features cruise ships offer, from onboard water parks to specialty restaurants, relaxing spas, and casinos — and all while enjoying dramatic ocean views in every direction.

The fact is, cruising sounds idyllic because it is, but there is one small problem. While cruise ships are enormous, individual cruise ship cabins tend to be tight on space.

Princess Cruises is known for offering luxury cruises in destinations like Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean and the California coast, yet few people know about their top-deck Sky Suites. These luxury suites have more than 1,000 square feet of balcony space alone (and more than 1,800 square feet of total space), and they sleep up to five guests. They also come with VIP perks like reserved theater seating, reserved Princess Cay bungalows, access to a Suite Experience Manager, a private shopping concierge and more.

MSC Cruises: MSC Seashore Yacht Club Owner’s Suite
The MSC Seashore, which is a newer MSC ship with sailings out of Miami, offers a to-die-for Owner’s Suite that sleeps up to five guests. This suite is situated in the ship’s exclusive Yacht Club area, and it has the largest balcony of any other cabin along with its own private whirlpool. Norwegian Prima: The Haven Suites
Norwegian Cruise Line ships, including the brand new Norwegian Prima, offer roomy and luxurious suites in a section of the ship called The Haven. Carnival Vista: Grand Suite
The Carnival Vista sails throughout the Caribbean from ports like Galveston, Texas and Port Canaveral, Florida, and it offers quite a few outsized suites for travelers who want extra space. The ship’s Grand Suite includes an oversized living area and bedroom, a walk-in closet, a large bathroom with a bathtub and shower, and an expansive verandah with plenty of room to relax. Guests who book this class of cabin also get exclusive access to Havana Pool area, priority check-in, a dedicated room steward and other upgraded benefits.

Oceania Riviera: Owner’s Suites
The luxurious Oceania Riviera features six owner’s suites that each have more than 2,000 square feet of space and span the entire beam of the ship. Virgin Voyages’ Massive Suites
Virgin Voyages offers fun and eclectic adults-only cruises within the Caribbean and Europe, although the relatively new cruise line will ultimately expand its offerings in the coming years. The line’s Scarlet Lady, which currently offers itineraries to destinations like Mexico and the Bahamas, also offers aptly named Massive Suites with more than 2,000 square feet of space. MSC Cruises: MSC Meraviglia Yacht Club Duplex Suite
The award-winning MSC Meraviglia, which currently offers sailings to destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico, offers a truly fantastic multi-level suite within its exclusive Yacht Club. This duplex suite offers a living room, a dining room and a bathroom with a shower on the main level, along with a sofa that easily converts to a double bed. The second story houses the master bedroom, two walk-in closets and a second bathroom with a bathtub.

Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas: Grand Loft Suite
The Grand Loft Suite on Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas sleeps up to four and has almost 700 square feet of interior living space. Seabourn Venture: Seabourn Grand Wintergarden Suite
The Wintergarden Grand Suite on the Seabourn Venture is made up of two levels that offer extra space for extended families or a small group of friends. This suite boasts almost 1,400 square feet of living space across two stories, a separate family room, two bedrooms and two separate outdoor verandas. Added perks include two bathrooms and dining space for six guests.

Holland America Rotterdam: Pinnacle Suite
Holland America’s Rotterdam has space for 2,668 guests with 2022 itineraries available in the Southern Caribbean. The ship’s top tier suite, the Pinnacle Suite, has 1,290 square feet of interior and verandah space along with a separate living and dining area and a separate dressing room. The MSC Divina is one of MSC Cruises’ most popular ships, and it is currently offering sailings throughout the Caribbean. The ship’s Yacht Club Royal Suite can be found in the most exclusive area of the ship — the Yacht Club — and it features a separate living area and dining room, a walk-in closet and a spacious master bathroom. The suite’s comfortable King bed can also be converted to twin beds upon request.

Windstar Cruises: Grand Owner’s Suite
Windstar Cruises is known for their elegant ships, including their luxurious Star Breeze and Star Legend yachts (which both underwent renovations in 2021) and the new Star Pride (which debuts in 2022). Lindblad Expeditions: Igloos at Sea
Lindblad Expeditions offers their famous Igloos at Sea on two of their ships, the National Geographic Endurance and National Geographic Resolution. These igloo-shaped rooms are available for “open use” during the day and offer panoramic views of spectacular polar landscapes. However, guests who book an overnight stay will see their igloo transformed into the ideal sleeping space for two.
