Maui hotel-to-housing plan draws divided response

A proposal to convert a proposed Maui hotel into an apartment building with below-market rents for 60% of its 125 units has split local public opinion. Lokahi Global Corp. hopes to overcome opposition that thwarted another developer’s plan several years ago by prioritizing local residents over outside investors.
