Southwest completes maintenance software migration

Southwest Airlines has completed what CEO Robert Jordan termed “the largest technical software project in airline history,” upgrading its aircraft maintenance operation from two older systems to IFS’s Maintenix software. Joe Marcella, Southwest’s senior director of technical operations planning, said the change will improve regulatory compliance, replace paper documentation with digital data entry and increase mechanics’ mobility.
