April data show steady comeback for urban hotels

Urban hotel markets are making up ground on the recovery-leading resort sector as workers return to the office and the convention business warms up, reports Zach Demuth, head of Americas Hotels Research for JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group. While revenue per room in cities reached only 72% of 2019 levels compared to 112% for resort markets, the former led all markets in degree of rise from its February 2021 nadir, Demuth notes.
