Lodging helps REITs post record funds from operations in Q1

Funds from operations rose 30.9% from a year ago to reach a record tally of more than $18 billion in the first quarter, according to Nareit’s Total REIT Industry Tracker Series report. The free-standing retail and lodging/resorts segments both recorded marked improvement in the quarter, with funds from operations rising 37.3% and 29.7%, respectively.
