Cvent Acquires UK-based Venue Directory

Event technology company Cvent has acquired UK-based online specialist Venue Directory.

Venue Directory, which was set up in 1993, offers information about meeting venues to the UK’s meetings, incentive, congress and exhibition industry, as well as providing sourcing products such as a dynamic booking module.

Cvent said that the company’s “robust” UK. and European venue database would complement the 290,000 hotels and venues already listed on the Cvent Supplier Network. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We’re extremely proud to bring Venue Directory into the Cvent portfolio,” said Cvent VP of international sales Graham Pope in a statement. “With the demand for in-person events continuing to grow, efficient and effective online venue sourcing is top of mind. We are excited about opportunities ahead as we look to expand and enhance our offerings and better support our clients and partners across Europe.”

Venue Directory will continue to operate as a standalone business unit following the acquisition. Cvent said it would provide “additional support and resources” to allow the platform to connect more venues with corporate event planners across Europe.
