Beyond Green, a curated global portfolio of planet Earth’s most sustainable hotels, resorts, and lodges, is delighted to welcome Casa di Langa as its newest member in Italy. Since its launch in 2021, Beyond Green has continued to welcome properties that have demonstrated impact in action and delivered on the three pillars of sustainable tourism: environmentally friendly practices that go beyond the basics; protection of natural and cultural heritage; and contribution to the social and economic wellbeing of local communities, based on 54 sustainable indicators that align with global tourism standards and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Situated in the rolling green foothills of Italy’s Piedmont region, Casa di Langa, which opened its doors last summer, offers a breath-taking location paired with farm-to-table dining and authentic activities. In addition to providing guests with genuine cultural experiences, Casa di Langa is committed to operating on 100% sustainable energy resources, which includes the utilisation of a mix of solar power, geothermal heating and cooling, and certified renewable energy. A rainwater recovery system is installed and a ban on single-use plastics has also been employed. Casa di Langa has a deep respect for the natural world and its sustainable future, with biodiversity at the heart of the hotel’s ethos. The property minimised its footprint on the existing land by reforesting and planting native trees to increase its greenspace, as well as introducing a large vegetable garden that provides most of the fresh produce and herbs served in the hotel’s Fàula Ristorante.

Guests can choose from 39 stylish rooms boasting impressive views of green valleys, distant snow-capped peaks, and the imposing Serralunga d’Alba Castle with its ancient medieval tower. Reusing and redeveloping an existing building, Casa di Langa has been inspired by the architecture of a neighboring UNESCO World Heritage site, while remaining in keeping with the vast 42-hectare estate of working vineyards, forests, orchards, and hazelnut farm. A host of local activities are available including wine-tasting, cooking classes, foraging for the famed black and white truffles, and exploring northern Italy’s quaint villages, as well as hiking and cycling for the more-active traveler.

Casa di Langa joins Borgo Pignano as Beyond Green’s second Italian member. Set in the heart of a picturesque 750-acre organic estate in Tuscany, Borgo Pignano has been meticulously restored and boasts panoramic views of rolling countryside and vineyards. A model of regenerative agriculture when it comes to self-sufficiency and natural living; guest experiences include learning about beekeeping including local traditional methods for extracting honey and beeswax, gathering wild herbs and flowers with the in-house herbalist and learning how these natural ingredients are used within products and cuisine at the hotel.
