Airline academies aim to boost pilot diversity

United Airlines, Delta Airlines and JetBlue are among carriers that have launched training academies whose mission is to increase diversity in the pilot ranks as well as step up recruiting to combat personnel shortages. “It’s about time the industry looks at how they have historically operated,” said Dana Donati, CEO of United’s Aviate Academy.
