Hotels pace strong July showing for REITs

The lodging sector led the way with a 14.4% improvement as publicly traded real estate investment trusts posted a strong July, with the FTSE Nareit All Equity REITs Index rising 8.6%, surpassing broader market indexes. Nareit executive John Worth notes that July had the best REIT returns since December 2020 and “may be [at] a turning point in market perceptions generally.”
