Oregon Aloft Hotel puts robot cop on vandalism beat

The Aloft Hotel in Portland, Ore., is tackling the twin problems of vandalism and shortage of staff with a patrolling robot equipped with cameras and thermal imaging capability. “Robby” transmits questionable activity alerts to personnel, who share its camera views on a screen and can talk through the robot to the suspects and take further action.
