Hotel upsells may be better served at check-in

Rather than flooding a guest’s email with upgrade offers, hotel upsells can be done at the front desk during check-in and these can include a number of accommodations, such as higher quality mattresses and sheets, a stocked mini fridge, or early check-ins or late check-outs, Kennedy Training Network President Doug Kennedy writes. Front desk staff can be encouraged to upsell by offering a percentage of the revenue of that sale, or through a points system to offer incentives.
