Norway’s Norse Atlantic receives AOC from UK regulator
Norway’s Norse Atlantic Airways has received its air operator’s certificate (AOC) and operating license (OL) from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, allowing the carrier to launch commercial operations from the United Kingdom.
The low-cost long-haul carrier intends to launch transatlantic flights between London Gatwick and several US destinations, subject to regulatory approval.
The news comes just over two months after the airline’s subsidiary Norse Atlantic Airways UK applied for a foreign carrier permit from the US Department of Transportation.
“We look forward to ramping up our operations between London and the US ready for our Summer 2023 schedule,” said Bjorn Tore Larsen, CEO of Norse Atlantic Airways.
Norse Atlantic made its inaugural commercial long-haul flight between Oslo (OSL) and New York (JFK) in mid-summer 2022.
