Hawaiian Airlines internships offer island travel perk

Hawaiian Airlines is staffing its information technology center in Tempe, Ariz., in part through internship relationships with institutions such as Grand Canyon University. For recent GCU graduate Austin Driver, the program meant a summer internship that included a week in Hawaii where he toured the company’s flight operation center, maintenance hangar and cargo hangar. Driver said he relished the experience interning with Hawaiian, which offered him an opportunity to “mess up, kind of push the boundaries, see what you know and what you’re really interested in.”
