Japan’s ANA will soon serve plant-based ramen on international flights
Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) will serve plant-based ramen on select international routes on its First and Business class services from December 1, 2022.
Since 2013, ANA has been collaborating with Chikaranomoto Holdings Co., which runs the Ippudo brand, a world renowned Japanese ramen brand founded in 1985. Together, the airline and the food brand have been serving Japanese favorites on select flights such as shoyu (soy sauce) soup ramen, tonkotsu (pork) soup ramen, and miso-based noodles.
This is the first time that ANA and Ippudo had developed plant-based ramen noodles known as “Pla-ton”.
ANA said that the new “Pla-ton” ramen delivers Ippudo’s signature tonkotsu (pork) flavor, while remaining completely vegan to accommodate customers with different dietary needs.
According to ANA, the realization that there are many people who cannot eat tonkotsu (pork) ramen, or choose not to for various reasons, is what prompted the airline to develop the new plant-based ramen with Ippudo.
