Accor has launched what it called a new global midscale brand of dubbed Handwritten Collection, with 12 properties signed and seven set to debut by May 2023, the company announced Thursday.

The Handwritten Collection adds to Accor’s portfolio of 43 brands and expands the company’s footprint in the midscale hotel sector. The company expects the new brand to add more than 11,500 guest rooms to Accor’s portfolio over the next several months and grow to a portfolio of more than 250 hotels by 2030.

The brand adds to “Accor’s offering in the ‘collection brands’ segment,” Accor chief marketing officer of premium, midscale, economy brands Alex Schellenberger said in a statement. The new hotels will maintain their “unique personality,” Schellenberger added, as 80 percent of the brand’s debut portfolio is conversion projects.
