South Florida’s Hot New Hotels
South Florida’s hotel scene is always often changing, with new additions popping up frequently. From waterfront resorts to downtown high-rises, travelers to South Florida have lots of new properties to choose from that include amenities like rooftop pools and private patios with outdoor showers. Whether your next trip to South Florida is to West Palm, Fort Lauderdale, or Miami check out the latest hotel openings.

AKA West Palm
From the luxury hospitality brand, AKA, Palm Beach’s newest property AKA West Palm is a gorgeous new hotel residence with lots of amenities. Ideal for long-term travelers, the hotel has 215 luxury studios and multi-room suites with fully equipped kitchens and generous balconies that look over the Intracoastal and downtown West Palm Beach. During their stay, guests have access to a sophisticated lounge and bar, and outdoors there’s a sparkling pool with loungers, poolside tables, and fireplaces for when the sun goes down. Pets are welcome too, and there’s a spa to pamper your furry loved one. Opened in December 2022, the hotel has a convenient downtown location in Palm Beach’s financial district and easy access to the nightlight on Clematis Street, the retail shops and restaurants in The Square, and nearby beaches.

Pelican Hotel
The Pelican Hotel recently reopened in November 2022 after a nearly two-year renovation that saw a complete rehaul of the original 1948 building. The newly reimagined boutique hotel features 32 rooms – each uniquely decorated with globally sourced vintage artifacts. Some of the eclectic details include vibrant palm tree wallpaper, vintage zebra couches, and ornate stained glass windows. The hotel’s sole restaurant, Pelican Cafe, is helmed by Italian Chef Wendy Cacciatori and has a delicious all-day Italian menu and cocktails at night. Situated on a coveted stretch of Ocean Drive real estate, the hotel overlooks Miami’s South Beach and offers guests beach chairs and towels for lounging on the beach.

Kimpton Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort (Gianna Orangio)
Though the boutique hotel first debuted in 2021, the property was recently rebranded and reopened as the Kimpton Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort in October 2022. Just a block from Fort Lauderdale beach, the Art Deco-styled hotel has a clean, modern aesthetic. The light-filled guest rooms have watercolor framed art on the walls, vintage teal mini-fridges, and jute rugs that add a beachy feel. Keeping in line with other Kimpton branded properties, guests have access to in-room yoga mats, complimentary bike rentals, a nightly hosted social hour, and luxe Atelier Bloom bath products. The hotel has two pools including a courtyard pool in a lush garden setting and an enviable rooftop deck that looks over Fort Lauderdale’s Intracoastal. At La Fuga, the hotel’s mid-century-designed indoor/outdoor restaurant, guests can sip on seasonal cocktails and dine on coastal Italian dishes.

The Elser Hotel & Residences (Gianna Orangio)
Situated in downtown Miami, the brand-new Elser Hotel & Residences has 646 rooms with dazzling views of Biscayne Bay. The 49-story property is minutes away from South Beach and offers studios and one, two, and three-bedroom suites that come with full kitchens, large living rooms, and convenient workspaces. The property has top-notch amenities like a 24-hour concierge, a huge pool deck with a poolside bar, and an impressive two-story fitness center. The hotel’s dining venue comes from the same team behind Miami’s popular downtown bar, Jaguar Sun. Open every day until 1 a.m., the lobby bar is a sophisticated gathering place for signature happy cocktails and small plates of pasta.

Arlo Wynwood (Gianna Orangio)
Wynwood’s first hotel, Arlo Wynwood, pays homage to the artistic neighborhood with exterior murals, a vibrant hand-painted stairway, and nearly 250 words of art displayed throughout the hotel. The 239 guest rooms resemble a clean canvas with clean white walls, warm wood floors, and small, uncluttered displays of art. The hotel offers guests two great dining options. Mary Gold is a restaurant conceptualized by award-winning chef Brad Kilgore with inventive dishes using local ingredients, and Higher Ground, the hotel’s third-story restaurant and bar, has live music on the weekends. The hotel’s pool deck features a 76 ft. long pool and four large, private cabanas with personalized food and beverage service from the aptly named poolside restaurant, Pool Bar.

Mayfair House Hotel & Garden
Coconut Grove’s Mayfair House Hotel & Garden opened in September 2022 as part of the neighborhood’s recent revival. The unique property first opened in 1985, and after an extensive two-year renovation, the hotel opened its doors with a completely new concept. The guest rooms start at 500 sq ft, and several suites have living and dining room spaces and private garden balconies with outdoor rain showers. The rooms also feature handcrafted mahogany furniture, jewel-toned walls, and vintage lamps. Guests can dine at Mayfair Grill, a restaurant with open-air, garden-style seating serving grilled dishes inspired by the American Southwest Guests can also enjoy cocktails at SipSip, a rooftop Caribbean-style bar that’s a nod to Coconut Grove’s Caribbean roots.

Loews Coral Gables Hotel
The brand-new Loews Coral Gables Hotel is four blocks from Coral Gables’ Miracle Mile and recently opened in November 2022. The 242 guestrooms include 23 suites that are outfitted in soothing shades of cream and white and feature 300-count sheets, plush carpeting, and large bathrooms with oversized showers. In addition, select rooms have balconies with direct pool access. The property has several resort amenities like a rooftop pool, four restaurants, a fitness center with Pelton bikes, and a spa with a hair and nail salon. The hotel is also family-friendly offering pack-and-plays and bath kits for kids. Pets are also welcome and the hotel provides gourmet room service, water bowls, and treats for dogs.
