The Best Business-Class in the Sky: All Nippon Airways “The Room”

Share

All Nippon Airways is one of the best ways to fly to Japan and Asia. ANA is known for providing high-quality inflight services to its passengers.

ANA offers a new “The Room” business class, but it is only available on certain aircraft. While only available on certain aircraft, this is one of the most spacious business-class products flying between Japan and the United States. Sliding doors assure protection from commotion in the aisle, and the seat feels more like a first-class seat with wide shoulder room facing an enormous entertainment screen. Three-dimensional cushioning from Nishikawa is designed to evenly spread body weight for a more comfortable rest.

For now, it is operating on flights from the U.S. to Tokyo that use the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. ANA brands this product as “The Room,” and it’s worth looking for that verbiage if you want to secure this new product. These wide seats all come with a door and boast direct aisle access, alternating between forward- and rear-facing rows to provide the highest level of privacy and comfort available in Business Class.

Seats alternate between facing forward and backward on the plane, but all have ample interior storage space. Laid out in a 1-2-1 configuration, there is a sliding panel in the center section so that couples can sit together. Its Japanese in-flight dining comes from top Michelin-starred chefs and is a favorite of repeat passengers. Luckily, travelers can pre-order one before boarding the plane.

  • Boeing 777-300ER aircraft typically offer a seat pitch of around 62-64 inches (157-162cm).
  • Boeing 787-8/9 aircraft typically offer a seat pitch of around 48-52 inches (122-132cm).

Here are the routes that are expected to be operated by the new Boeing 777-300ERs for the 2023 summer schedule (which runs from late March until late October): Tokyo Haneda (HND) to London (LHR) for NH211/212. Tokyo Haneda (HND) to New York (JFK) for NH109/110 and NH159/160.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) is Japan’s biggest airline. Although the service and standards are rivaled by its counterpart – Japan Airlines – it’s the only airline in Japan to hold Skytrax 5-star status.
