Premier entertainment media company Warner Bros. Discovery has created and produced a new docu-series, titled ‘Maritime Masters: Expedition Antarctica’, which will offer an inside, view of operations aboard ultra-luxury cruise ships.

The new show was filmed aboard Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours’ vessel, Scenic Eclipse, trademarked the ‘World’s First Discovery Yacht’ and one of the brand’s two Polar Class 6-rated sister ships that have set the industry standard in ultra-luxury cruising.

Hosting viewers as they take a virtual voyage of discovery, the series showcases life on board the six-star, expedition mega-yacht, providing an all-areas-access glimpse into the daily workings of the Scenic Eclipse and its contingent of world-class professionals as they work to ensure their in-person guests get exceptional, even life-altering, cruise experiences.

From personalized in-suite butler service and onboard gastronomic offerings to aerial adventures using the ship’s private helicopters or subsurface explorations in its custom-designed submarine, viewers will get a comprehensive portrait of what goes on aboard an ultra-luxury, small-ship voyage.

Caught on camera are the many and varied behind-the-scenes tasks that it takes for the Scenic Eclipse’s crew to deliver passengers to some of the most pristine and culturally rich places on the planet.

The ship, which carries up to 228 guests (or 200 guests in the Polar regions) journeys to some of the world’s most spectacular and remote destinations across all seven continents, including the increasingly popular destination of Antarctica.

Over the course of five weeks, the series will follow Scenic Eclipse as it makes its way from Baja Mexico and Costa Rica, through the Chilean Fjords that serve as the jumping-off point to reach the voyage’s star destination, the icy southernmost continent of Antarctica. Along the way, “Viewers will gain deep insights into the diverse wildlife, landscapes, challenges, and operation of the world’s most advanced discovery yacht,” revealed Scenic Group USA’s Managing Director Ken Muskat.

“A journey on board an ultra-luxury cruise ship is the stuff dreams are made of and, as the leading global producer of real-life entertainment, there is no one better placed to bring this to life than Warner Bros. Discovery,” Lynn Ng, VP, Head of Content Operations, APAC at Warner Bros. Discovery, said in a statement. “We’re excited to launch ‘Maritime Masters: Expedition Antarctica’ and, by bringing it to a global audience through Discovery Channel and discovery+, we know we will fascinate and excite our viewers around the world with the stories of the characters along the way.”

For his part, Scenic Group’s Founder and Chairman Glen Moroney remarked, “We are delighted Warner Bros. Discovery has chosen Scenic Eclipse to showcase the benchmark in ultra-luxury and expedition cruising. With the inaugural voyage of our new Discovery Yacht Scenic Eclipse II on 13 April, this partnership provides the perfect platform for us to share real-life insights into our innovative ship designs, exceptional crew, and the ultimate guest experiences, with the Warner Bros. Discovery global audience.”

The new docu-series is set to premiere on May 13, 2023, airing for five consecutive Saturdays at 11 a.m. on the Discovery Channel. The show will be broadcast internationally, including in Europe, Australia and New Zealand, with content to be made available in 20 different languages.
