IHG to Expand Portfolio in Indonesia, Nepal

InterContinental Hotels Group plans to expand its presence in Asia through development in Nepal and Indonesia, the company announced Tuesday. The expansion would include the brand debuts of Hotel Indigo and InterContinental in Nepal, and the first Voco property in Indonesia, according to IHG.

The portfolio growth in Nepal, in partnership with Shangri-La Hotel & Resort Group, includes the development of four new hotels in the next “one to four years,” according to IHG: InterContinental Kathmandu Lazimpat, the Hotel Indigo Pokhara Gharipatan, the InterContinental Resort Pokhara Begnas Lake, and the InterContinental Resort Chitwan, Meghauli. The new properties will add nearly 500 rooms to IHG’s portfolio in the region, according to the company,

As for development in Indonesia, IHG plans to debut its first Voco hotel in Bali by 2024 with the Voco Bali Seminyak, along with its second Holiday Inn Express in the region, the Holiday Inn Express Bali Sunset Road.

According to the company, IHG operates 25 hotels in Indonesia across six brands and plans to grow by 50 percent within the next four years with 14 properties in its development pipeline.

The news follows IHG’s plans to debut its Voco brand in India, announced in January.
