Jet It Grounds Fleet of Honda Aircraft After Accident Investigation
Jet It, a leading fractional business jet operator, has made the decision to voluntarily ground its fleet of HondaJets following an accident involving another operator’s HondaJet in South Carolina. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is currently investigating the incident, which occurred when the aircraft hydroplaned off the runway, struck a berm, and caught fire. Thankfully, none of the five individuals on board were injured.
Jet It, one of the largest operators of HondaJets, internally notified its employees of the fleet’s stand-down in response to the accident. The company aims to gather further information and review all available data and procedures during this stand-down period. While no specific date for resuming operations has been determined, Jet It remains committed to the safety and well-being of its passengers, pilots, and overall operations.
Importantly, the decision to ground the fleet was voluntary and not based on any recommendation from aviation authorities. Honda Aircraft Company, the manufacturer of HondaJets, clarified that they have no comment on Jet It’s decision as it was made independently. They stated that previous investigations of similar incidents did not reveal any causal factors related to the aircraft’s design or system malfunctions. Honda Aircraft Company continues to prioritize safety and reliability, collaborating closely with the NTSB and FAA to identify the cause of the recent occurrence and implement any necessary measures.
It’s worth noting that Jet It’s pause in HondaJet operations follows a recent confidential settlement between Jet It and Honda Aircraft Co., which resolved a breach-of-contract lawsuit initiated by Honda. The lawsuit alleged that Jet It violated agreements and made disparaging comments about the aircraft manufacturer. However, the grounding decision was unrelated to this legal matter.
As the investigation continues and safety measures are thoroughly assessed, Jet It remains dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of safety in its operations.
