Vietnam Airlines to Offer Daily 787-9 Dreamliner Flights between LHR and Vietnam
Vietnam’s flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will increase its flight frequencies from London Heathrow to Vietnam to seven direct flights per week again this winter.
The daily services are set to resume from 29 October 2023 and the Skytrax four star-rated airline will operate its next-gen Boeing B787-9 Dreamliners on the routes. The flights include four flights per week to Hanoi and three per week to Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietnam Airlines first linked the UK and Vietnam with direct flights in 2011 and in 2015, the carrier switched its operations from London Gatwick to London Heathrow and rolled out its first new B787-9 Dreamliner on the route. After a two-year suspension due to the pandemic, the connection was re-established in June 2022, with daily services first resuming for the winter 2022-2023 schedule.
Phan The Thang, General Manager UK & Ireland, Vietnam Airlines, commented: “Vietnam Airlines made it a key priority to re-establish the connection to the important UK market last year, following the pandemic-enforced suspension of the route. We are proud to have carried approximately 29,000 passengers from Heathrow to Vietnam in just nine months last year, contributing significantly to the tourism recovery in Vietnam.
“With the resumption of daily services from London confirmed once again for this winter, we are determined to return to pre-pandemic passenger numbers – which peaked at approximately 74,000 from London Heathrow in 2019 – as soon as possible.”
The airline will initially increase the frequency of flights from LHR from three to five flights per week from 1 July, before commencing daily operations from 29 October 2023.
