Qatar Airways second Boeing 737 MAX entered service in mid May 2023

Qatar Airways’ second Boeing 737 MAX has entered commercial service on May 15, 2023, operating flight QR1070 from Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) to Kuwait International Airport (KWI).

Since then, the narrow-body aircraft, registered as A7-BSE, has flown mostly to either KWI, Sharjah International Airport (SHJ), the United Arab Emirates (UAE), or Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH), the UAE.

Qatar Airways took delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX, registered as A7-BSC, on April 14, 2023, when the aircraft landed at DOH. That aircraft entered service on May 9, 2023, flying similar routes to A7-BSE, namely to either KWI or AUH.

Additionally, the airline took delivery of its third Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, registered as A7-BSB, which departed Everett Paine Field (PAE), the United States (US) on May 17, 2023, arriving at DOH on May 19, 2023. Much like the two aircraft of the type previously delivered to the carrier, the aircraft is likely to undergo a few days of familiarization before being introduced into service.

In total, the Qatari carrier is scheduled to take delivery of six more aircraft of the type, according to ch-aviation.com data. All nine 737 MAXs were initially destined for Russia-based S7 Airlines but were unable to be delivered due to sanctions imposed on the country in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The not taken up (NTU) aircraft were taken over by Qatar Airways instead.
