Delta Air Lines has completed the second phase of its $2.3 billion infrastructure upgrade at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with the opening of a new headhouse with upgraded check-in facilities, including self-service kiosks.

The new headhouse, which is located at Terminal 2, is part of Delta’s Sky Way project, which aims to modernize and connect Terminals 2 and 3 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX. The project also includes the construction of a new concourse, a centralized security checkpoint, a new baggage claim area, and a private Delta One check-in lounge.

The new headhouse features a spacious lobby with high ceilings, natural light, and digital signage. It also offers enhanced check-in facilities, such as self-service kiosks, self-tagging baggage stations, and biometric boarding. The headhouse also provides access to the new Delta Sky Club, which opened in May 2021 and features an outdoor terrace, a full-service bar, and a locally inspired menu.

Delta Air Lines said that the new headhouse will improve the customer experience and streamline the travel process at LAX. The airline also said that the new headhouse will support its recovery and growth in the Los Angeles market, where it operates more than 170 daily flights to over 70 destinations.

“We are thrilled to open the new headhouse at Terminal 2 and to offer our customers a state-of-the-art check-in experience at LAX. This is a significant milestone in our Sky Way project, which will transform LAX into a world-class airport and a premier gateway for Delta Air Lines. We are grateful to our partners at LAWA, the City of Los Angeles, and our contractors for their collaboration and support in making this project possible,” said Scott Santoro, vice president of Los Angeles and West Sales for Delta Air Lines.

The Sky Way project is expected to be completed by mid-2023. The project is part of Delta’s broader investment in Los Angeles, which includes enhancing its products and services, expanding its network and partnerships, and supporting the local community and environment.
