United Airlines Offers Pilots Unprecedented $8 Billion Contract over 4 Years
According to Bloomberg News, United Airlines is reportedly offering its pilots a contract worth over $8 billion over four years, making it the most lucrative labor deal among mainline U.S. carriers. This move comes as pilots in North America are advocating for improved pay and working conditions during negotiations for new employment contracts with their respective companies.
Delta Air Lines’ recent landmark pilots contract, which included $7 billion in increased compensation and benefits, has created pressure for other airlines to offer similar deals ahead of the busy summer travel season.
United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby stated that the company has been engaging in weekly negotiations with the pilot union to reach a formal agreement. While specific details regarding the proposed pay, benefits, and quality-of-life enhancements were not disclosed, Kirby mentioned that the offer would surpass the recent agreements reached by United’s two largest competitors.
