Malaysia Aims for Increased Direct Flights from China to Achieve Tourism Arrival Target

Malaysia is optimistic about attracting more Chinese tourists and achieving its goal of welcoming 3.5 million Chinese visitors this year. To accomplish this, strategic collaborations with airlines are being pursued to facilitate additional direct and chartered flights from China, according to Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

Currently, there are already 175 weekly flights connecting China to Malaysia. Tiong highlighted the significance of Xiamen Airlines’ inaugural flight from Chongqing to Kuala Lumpur, emphasizing its role in boosting tourist traffic and fostering economic ties, cultural exchanges, and investments between the two destinations.

To further enhance tourism, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed the government’s readiness to promptly approve chartered flights into the country, with the aim of attracting and encouraging more tourist arrivals.

By increasing the number of direct and chartered flights from China, Malaysia seeks to provide greater convenience for travelers and strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries, ultimately driving tourism growth and achieving its ambitious tourism arrival target.
