Qantas Introduces “Neighbor-Free Seating” as a Surprising New Perk

The Australian flag carrier Qantas has introduced a new perk that ensures passengers can always enjoy the luxury of flying with an empty seat next to them, without relying on luck. Following a successful trial in 2022 and positive feedback from customers, Qantas has extended the neighbor-free seating option to 14 domestic routes.

Passengers booked on eligible flights with spare capacity will receive an email invitation 48 hours before departure, offering them the opportunity to opt for neighbor-free seating. By using the seat map, passengers can reselect their standard seat and the adjacent seat to ensure it remains unoccupied, providing them with extra space and privacy during their flight.

It’s important to note that the neighbor-free seating option is not available at the time of booking flights and the additional seat is not guaranteed until departure. In the event that the seat is subsequently sold, customers will receive a refund for the additional seat.

The rates for the neighbor-free seating option vary depending on the route, with prices ranging from AU $20 to $44. Passengers can take advantage of this perk on routes such as Adelaide-Brisbane, Adelaide-Sydney, Brisbane-Perth, Darwin-Melbourne, Darwin-Sydney, and more.

Qantas aims to provide an enhanced travel experience for its passengers by offering this unique option, allowing them to enjoy increased comfort and personal space throughout their journey.
