Budapest Airport Secures Shanghai Airlines’ Ningbo Connection
Budapest Airport has successfully secured Shanghai Airlines’ new twice-weekly service between Budapest and Ningbo, a vibrant coastal city in southern China. The route, operated by Shanghai Airlines’ Boeing 787-900 aircraft with 246 seats, covers a distance of 8,466 kilometers and complements the carrier’s existing service to Shanghai.
Balázs Bogáts, CCO of Budapest Airport, commented on the growing tourism market between Hungary and China, with an expected increase in Chinese visitors to Budapest this year due to eased travel restrictions. He expressed gratitude to the Consulate General of Hungary in Shanghai for their valuable assistance in establishing this important link to China. Bogáts emphasized Budapest’s significant Chinese community in Central Europe and expressed confidence in the success of the new route.
In another notable development, Shanghai Airlines will increase its frequency on the Budapest-Shanghai route from three to five weekly flights by the end of the month. With this expansion, Budapest will offer a total of 10 weekly services to various destinations in China this summer, including Beijing, Chongqing, Ningbo, and Shanghai.
Budapest Airport maintains strong connections with China, including cargo routes. The introduction of Shanghai Airlines’ new passenger service follows the success of their dedicated cargo route to Ningbo, further strengthening the ties between the two countries.
