Air India Official Assaulted by Passenger on Sydney to Delhi Flight: Incident Details and Response

A shocking incident occurred on Air India flight AI 301 from Sydney International Airport (SYD) to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) on July 9, 2023. Sandeep Verma, the head of inflight services, was physically assaulted by a passenger during the flight. The altercation was triggered when Verma attempted to address the noisy behavior of a fellow passenger. The situation escalated, resulting in Verma being hit in the head. The disruptive passenger was eventually contained by five cabin crew members, and Verma was moved to the rear of the aircraft for safety. Air India confirmed the incident and released an official statement expressing their commitment to take strong action against misbehavior. The passenger was handed over to security upon landing in Delhi and later issued a written apology.
