Southwest Airlines Passenger Charged with Assault After In-Flight Incident with Flight Attendants

In a recent incident that took place on October 3, 2022, a Southwest Airlines passenger, William Morgan, has been charged by the US federal government with assault. The incident occurred during a flight from Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) to Las Vegas Airport (LAS).

According to court documents filed in the US District Court for the District of Nevada, the passenger, identified as “C.B.,” approached a flight attendant who was seated in a jump seat at the rear of the aircraft. Allegedly, Morgan demanded that the flight attendant kiss him, leading to an uncomfortable and alarming situation.

When “C.B.” refused his request, Morgan placed his arms around her shoulders and insisted on a kiss. He even suggested that he would have a panic attack if she didn’t comply. Concerned for her safety, “C.B.” tried to push Morgan away and sought help from another flight attendant, identified as “K.L.”

Upon hearing “C.B.’s” distress calls, “K.L.” rushed to the scene and found Morgan with his hands on “C.B.’s” shoulders. Attempting to defuse the situation, “K.L.” intervened and placed her hand on Morgan’s shoulder. However, Morgan then shifted his attention to “K.L.” and expressed the need to kiss “C.B.” in order to calm down.

In a distressing turn of events, Morgan attempted to forcibly kiss “C.B.,” causing further concern and disruption among the passengers and crew. Fortunately, three male passengers stepped in and managed to restrain Morgan before the aircraft landed.

The commotion caused by the incident prevented “C.B.” and “K.L.” from completing their final check duties before the landing, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.

This unfortunate incident has raised awareness of the need for safety and respect for airline crew members while they carry out their responsibilities during flights. The case will be addressed in the court proceedings at the US District Court for the District of Nevada.
