Condor to Start First-Ever European Flights from San Antonio

Condor, the renowned German leisure carrier, is set to make aviation history by launching the first-ever flights connecting Europe to San Antonio International Airport (SAT) starting in May 2024. The airline will operate three weekly nonstop flights from Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to SAT, utilizing its state-of-the-art Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. These new flights will offer travelers seamless connections to various European and Middle Eastern destinations through Condor’s extensive network of partner airlines.

Departing Frankfurt Airport, the Condor flights to San Antonio will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, each at varying times, with arrival at SAT scheduled for the afternoon. On the return leg, flights will depart from SAT in the evening, arriving at FRA the following day. The journey will encompass approximately 12 hours when heading westbound and 10 hours when traveling eastbound. Passengers will have the option of choosing from 310 seats in three distinct classes: business, premium economy, and economy.

The introduction of this route signifies a significant milestone for San Antonio International Airport (SAT), which, until now, has primarily served international destinations in Mexico through airlines such as Aeromexico, VivaAerobus, and Volaris. Over the years, SAT has actively sought to attract transatlantic service and has offered incentives and subsidies to potential airlines. Frankfurt and London have been identified as the airport’s top targets for securing European flights.

Condor’s CEO, Ralf Teckentrup, expressed the airline’s enthusiasm for entering the San Antonio market, emphasizing the strong demand for leisure travel between Germany and Texas. He further assured that Condor would provide competitive fares and exceptional service to passengers on this route.

San Antonio’s Mayor, Ron Nirenberg, hailed the introduction of these flights as a momentous occasion for the city, positioning San Antonio on the global stage. He anticipates that the new routes will have a positive impact on tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges between San Antonio and Europe. Mayor Nirenberg also extended his gratitude to Condor and the airport authorities for their collaboration and partnership.
