In a significant move reflecting the growing demand for transatlantic flights, Aer Lingus, Ireland’s national flag carrier, has disclosed its plans to prolong its service linking Dublin Airport (DUB) with Hartford Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Connecticut. The service will now be operational almost throughout the year. The airline, a proud member of the International Airlines Group (IAG), has been offering daily flights on this DUB-BDL route since its inception in 2016.

Based on the airline’s revised schedule:

  • Until October 26, 2023: Daily operations continue as usual.
  • From October 28, 2023 to January 5, 2024: Flights will be available three times weekly – Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
  • Service intermission: January 6, 2024, to March 12, 2024.
  • From March 13, 2024: The frequency will revert to three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, continuing until March 28, 2024.
  • Starting March 30, 2024: Daily operations will resume and extend through October 2024.

Aer Lingus employs the technologically advanced Airbus A321LR aircraft for the DUB-BDL service, capable of accommodating up to 184 passengers in a plush two-class setup. Taking approximately seven hours, the flight not only facilitates US customs and immigration pre-clearance in Dublin but also extends seamless onward connections to myriad European destinations via Dublin.

The decision to expand the DUB-BDL service frequency resonates with the tremendous support and demand exhibited by both vacationers and business commuters. Expressing his elation over this development, Kevin Dillon, BDL’s executive director, labeled the service as a “tremendous success”. He further articulated the airport’s excitement in offering increased flexibility and choices to its patrons and conveyed gratitude to Aer Lingus for its unwavering allegiance to BDL and the larger region. Echoing a similar sentiment, David Shepherd, Aer Lingus’s Chief Commercial Officer, conveyed the airline’s joy in augmenting its Hartford service and anticipates greeting an increased influx of travelers.
