Azores Airlines marked a significant milestone on November 7, 2023, with the delivery of its first A320-200neo as part of its fleet modernization strategy. The airline aims to replace all three A320-200s with the latest-generation aircraft, enhancing efficiency and passenger experience.

The newly delivered aircraft, registered as CS-TSK with manufacturer serial number 11664, made its way from Toulouse Blagnac to Lisbon. Following arrival, it will undergo pre-induction maintenance and registration procedures. Azores Airlines anticipates that the A320neo will commence revenue service promptly upon completing the necessary formalities. The single-class configured aircraft has a seating capacity of up to 168 passengers.

The carrier expects to receive its second A320neo in early 2024, with the third slated for early 2025. Although delivery timelines may be subject to adjustments, Azores Airlines remains committed to the fleet renewal plan. The initial delivery faced a delay of four months beyond the original deadline.

Azores Airlines, part of the Grupo SATA, already operates two A321-200neo (A321neo) and three A321-200NX(LR) aircraft, contributing to its modernized and fuel-efficient fleet. The airline currently has no plans to reintroduce widebody operations.

In a notable development, Azores Airlines is gearing up for the summer of 2024 by planning the addition of a wet-leased A330 aircraft. While details about the specific aircraft and the lessor involved are yet to be disclosed, the move underscores the airline’s commitment to meeting seasonal demand with an expanded and diverse fleet.

Stay tuned for further updates as Azores Airlines continues its fleet enhancement journey, providing improved services to passengers while optimizing operational capabilities.
