LATAM Airlines Brasil Completes Retirement of 767-300ER Fleet
LATAM Airlines Brasil, based at Sao Paulo Congonhas, officially concluded operations of its Boeing 767-300ER aircraft on November 15, 2023, as confirmed to the Brazilian airline industry news portal Aeroflap. The retirement process involved the removal of two 767-300ERs, with both aircraft set to undergo cargo conversion at LATAM’s maintenance facility in São Carlos Francisco Pereira Lopez airport.
The first aircraft, PT-MSO (msn 41747), completed its last scheduled flight from Manaus International to Sao Paulo Guarulhos on October 30. Subsequently, PT-MOD (msn 40799) operated its final flight on November 15, also serving the Manaus International to Sao Paulo Guarulhos route. Both aircraft have since been ferried to the maintenance facility for the conversion process.
LATAM Airlines Perú continues to operate nine 767-300ER aircraft from Lima International to various destinations, including Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson, Los Angeles International, Madrid Barajas, Miami International, and New York JFK, according to data from ch-aviation fleets advanced and ch-aviation schedules.
LATAM Airlines Group, across its cargo air operator certificates in Brazil, Chile, and Colombia, currently operates a fleet of twenty 767 freighters, comprising eleven converted 767-300ERBCFs and nine production 767-300F freighters. The group’s first-quarter 2023 report indicated the sale of two production freighters with an expectation to sell a third. Following the conversion of the two retired 767-300ERs, LATAM aims to have a cargo fleet comprising thirteen Boeing Converted Freighters and six production freighters in 2024.
With the retirement of the 767-300ERs, LATAM Airlines Brasil’s widebody fleet now consists of ten Boeing 777-300ERs and one 787-9, supplemented by additional 787-9s operated interchangeably with LATAM Airlines Chile.
